MJAZZ Mondriaan Jazz Festival is a new and small, top-notch international jazz festival in The Hague, The Netherlands.
The festival links progressive- “jazz”-loving spirit Mondrian reflects through his contemporary art and paintings, into music. The festival focusses on jazz embedded in progressive and contemporary subcultures and movements therein: “If Mondrian would be alive today, how would his vinyl suitcase look like?”
MJAZZ18 (second edition!) will take place on Saturday October 13, 2018 (with a special opening concert on Friday October 12, 2018) in three venues in The Hague. The festival aims at the theme of interconnectivity between different progressive music cultures and in that conveying a message of what society is and reflects through the music of today. Music can be the incentive behind change and progression. MJAZZ will surprise, curate and be somewhat unexpected. You will hear music with no label, music of now, blended, mixed and more.
The program will entail supergroups, putting together the great jazz 'minds of today', taking them out of their comfort zone, presenting groups that will enjoy their first international debut, the current stars, upcoming stars, ... all progressively moving forward in a realm that does not have to be labeled as yet.
